heaven is a place on earth

With about a week to go before show day, we were told to go back and spend time to go through reading our script once again. It was time to stop being so ignorant, stop focusing on our own lines. For the great masterpiece that ms tnee penned down to be pieced together beautifully on stage, everybody has to know what the big picture is and truly understand what context our characters are set in.

At church this morning, before service started, I read through the prologue part one and was overcome with great sadness. It's a feeling I'd never felt before even though that is what the text is meant to invoke in us. Glad to have broken the shell. We had our first full dress full run for act one yesterday. The humidity and ventilation in the hall was freaking hell and my headache almost knocked me out at the beginning. I think we did okay, barely hitting our expectations. There's only up from here?

Aside from musical rehearsals, the week has been filled with some happy days! On friday, we had our cross country at chinese garden and I abused my rights of being a sports leader by volunteering myself to help out at a station so I could skip the fun run hehe. Jia min and I were tasked with setting up the 'haze' station along with klein and tun hao which ended up being a pretty fun job (: we were supposed to be PSI:300 catchers and basically pull tags out of runners when they ran past! When everything ended, we were en route to the rest house when it started pouring. SADNESS.

Since everyone was trapped at the rest house and there was barely any space for us to squeeze in, jia min and I decided to help the teachers pack stuff in our banana ponchos. Mr lim told us to stop though because he said that the rain was too heavy. Number 1 caring teacher.

Headed to xin wang at jem with zhe ern and jia min for some post-weather blues lunch hehe and the minute I ordered my soup noodles I knew I was going to regret it because #1 rule is that you always always order the baked rice at xin wang. There is no buts, just repeat after me : I will only eat baked rice at xin wang if not I will regret it.

Dropped by the boyfriend's place and watched The Wolf of Wall Street! Just so happened to see the movie thumbnail on his desktop so we just decided to trade our innocent souls for three hour entertainment. Still unsure if that was a good/bad idea but it's Leonardo Dicaprio anyway *-*

As for today, headed to church as usual before meeting the boyfriend at clementi for some lunch/study time. My tummy was happy to finally have been able to meet up with pepper lunch remnants once again after what seems like a year? Then we greedy pigs headed to burger king to grab the king dogs -honey mustard & ketchup for me, bbq & mayo for him- and a large green tea! Managed to do some work before ending up at his place again since bk removed their wifi policy and we were in deep need of some wireless internet connection ): we are true blue 21st century children.

He dropped me off at home where I did a isabella record breaking shower + dress up in less than 20 minutes before leaving the house with my parents. Met the brother at The Fullerton Bay hotel for his belated birthday dinner at The Clifford Pier. A really beautiful place in the heart of the central business district, a place I've always admired. There are no words to describe the architectural beauty of singapore's marina bay sky line.

The Clifford Pier just opened this month and the place just oozes this luxurious yet homely atmosphere. I'm not sure if any place can ooze any sort of atmosphere but I'm trying to sound cooler. For starters, we had loads of krupuk which I couldn't eat because of the food ban ): most of the menu items are revamped versions of classic hawker food but since they're mostly fried, I went with The Pier Burger ($29) which essentially consisted of a thick and juicy wagyu beef patty, heirloom beets, tomatoes, lettuce and toasted sesame buns. There was a side of pickle, fries and a choice of mayo/chili sauce. For desserts, my sister joined us and we shared some carrot cake, pulut hitam and keylime pie. The key lime pie is amazing! It has this freeze-dried thing on top of the meringue, I call it amazing astronaut ice cream.

Food-wise, I would say the items were reasonably priced and quite delicious while the atmosphere was what shot the ball out of the park. It's extremely homely with sofas as seats, you can nest yourself amongst the cushions and believe me, that's what I did. Surrounding the restaurant in the middle are numerous display cabinets that feature coffee books, artifects and framed history of clifford pier.

The family and I took a walk along the fullerton bay area and went atop the platform above Catalunya. We were just in time for the laser show and although we had no idea what was going on, the breeze and pew pew lasers were enough for us to enjoy. I remember going to the cbd area in secondary one for my project work and I don't think it's lost any of its appeal. I still love the urban landscape very much and I can only wish to be able to spend more time there.

Till my end of year holidays then. (:
