bruised knee

As the bruises on my left knee recover from tchoukball, a new one has surfaced from yesterday's dancing and I don't want to sound creepy but I love having a bruise.

They have the beauty of being tolerably painful and they're a faded mess of blue and red.

Lovely.

Aside from musical rehearsals that have since gone full-blown crazy, there's also chinese extra classes. We literally had four hours of lesson after school on friday and we just sat there to write essays then absorb information so we could write even more essays. You could say that by the end of it, I was pretty pissed but I must remember...just two more weeks and there's a possibility I will never have to touch chinese ever again.

Went for cell group with chong ray yesterday after rehearsal because I was on to lead worship (: word was about how we are all fearfully and wonderfully made in God's eyes and somehow we ended session by talking about clubbing! It's always nice to look at things from different perspectives. Open your miiiiiiind.

The school had gotten some tickets to catch a a play down at SOTA and somehow I landed with one so after lunch today I took the train down to dhoby. Decided to treat myself with some hot green tea latte since it was a rainy day and my order got mixed up so I got a grande sized cup -instead of a tall one- from a confused yet kind barista (:

Originally thinking that the play was some chinese martial arts thing, my brain preset to being disinterested but Senang turned out to be something out of expectations. It was performed in a studio theatre, a venue that I've come to be familiar with and so everything was simplistic and clever. The actors stuck to a single costume throughout the entire play. No extra props from a non-existent backstage was used. A blend of english, mandarin, cantonese and hokkien, the all male cast brought us through the story of prisoners who were shifted from changi prison to Pulau Senang. They were meant to rehabilitate there but of course things aren't always as they seem and by the end of the play, most people are dead.

I would say it was a thought provoking production. Great exposure to the post-war history of Singapore. A main versus that was brought up was between pride and a chance of freedom. Touchy and tough to talk about, I would rather leave the debate to on stage action. Overall I enjoyed it and I was glad that I got the opportunity to catch a stage production just before the 3rd of June.

Came home in a saddened state but recovered with about forty minutes of bed rest. Had lola running about the house followed by grocery shopping with my siblings to cheer me up. And of course the thought of my night phone call with him.

Note to self: don't restrict yourself to enduring but push yourself to embracing
